What is Children & Young Adult Therapy?

Supporting children and young people through mental health and emotional difficulties they are facing, with therapy and support, young people will better understand themselves and their needs, enabling them to emotionally understand – building resilience with a range of coping strategies and mindfulness.

5-11yrs:  Therapy can help young children manage “big” feelings through therapeutic play approach where they can be creative in expressing themselves.  This encourages them to explore their own world and feelings in a safe environment.

Young adults:  Involves an age appropriate and creative therapeutic approach to counselling as they move towards adulthood. Sessions will be tailored to individual needs on a one-to-one basis.  Reasons a young person may seek support include: Anxiety, friendship issues, abuse, anger, trauma, eating disorder, self-harm, depression, low self-worth or self-esteem, suicidal thoughts, relationships, substance misuse, loss, school/uni and more.  Dragonfly Well-Being Centre is a new venture, so we will be adding more therapists offering Children & Young Adult Therapy in Plymouth in the near future.
