Therapist Biography

Hi, here’s a bit about me – I’m a down to earth kind of person. I went into counselling because I got such a lot from it when I was a client. I know how nerve-wracking it can feel – so what I offer clients is a chance for you to be YOU and discover a bit more about yourself, as well as work on your issues in a safely held space.

My specialisms: survivors of sexual abuse; trauma; grief and loss; anxiety; feeling stuck; family; relationships; student life; burnout, spirituality; children and young people.  When talking is a struggle, creative approaches help to bring the subliminal into the real world – a lightbulb moment can happen. These can involve using materials as well as metaphor and visualisation. I also offer coaching for re-examining your life – exploring the whole of your life and looking at “where next.” I’m not a fan of worksheets though I’m happy to share what I know through psycho-education if this is useful.

My background – I’ve done a variety of jobs but spent a large amount of time in teaching. I left because I knew it wasn’t sustainable for me, I was heading for burnout. I qualified as a counsellor in 2017 and since then I’ve worked for a local charity and in private practice. This year I qualified as a Level 2 Reiki practitioner. This is now something I am also offering. I can create a bespoke session for you combining talking therapy and reiki, or stand alone reiki sessions.

I am insured, registered with the BACP and have a DBS. I offer both regular and flexible appointments.

Let’s talk – I offer a free 20 minute consultation via zoom.
