Psychodynamic Therapy – Our Therapists
Psychodynamic therapy recognises the complexity of a person’s current life and development. It offers space and support for you to develop a greater awareness and a deeper understanding of yourself, your needs, your emotional experiences, how you have learned to make sense of things, how you cope, and how things might be different for you. It helps you to understand yourself more completely in the context of your needs and relationship experiences over time as you interacted with the world around you. It helps you to explore the past, the present, your internal world, and your immediate relationship with your therapist; in this way helping you to make useful links, so that you might come to bear your difficult experiences in mind more easily and usefully, and ultimately explore how things might be better for you in the future.
As a clinical psychologist experienced in working with trauma and severe and enduring difficulties that might attract all kinds of psychiatric diagnoses, I recognise that understanding your unique circumstances and experiences is key to developing a sense of recovery (or perhaps discovery) and a better future. I can offer consultation sessions to help you begin to understand your situation usefully, and to develop ideas about how things might be different for you.
