What is Talking Therapy?

Talking Therapy is often used to help with mental health issues or problematic behavioural patterns. It takes place in a safe environment, where you can talk in confidence to a trained therapist about your life and any issues you are experiencing/have experienced in the past, in order to identify what could be the trigger for your confusion, pain, reactions, behaviour or habits etc.

“Your Counsellor will approach your concerns with objectivity while also being empathetic. They’ll attentively hear you out without passing any criticism to aid in your exploration of your feelings and thoughts. While they may provide insights, they won’t impose their opinion on you; rather, they’ll assist in directing you towards a solution.
K. Daymond & S. Millward, BACP, July 2022 (last accessed 10/03/23)

I have studied Hypnotherapy for just under 5 years, branching off into neuro linguistic programming and courses in stage hypnosis.  Qualifying more recently, as a rapid transformation therapy practitioner (RTTP) in hypnotherapy.

I used hypnotherapy to change my own life experiences and challenges, this left a lasting impression and led to me to want to learn, improve and develop my own skills and understanding.

A natural progression into learning different methods of induction has helped me to tailor my hypnotherapy to the individual.  Learning how to recognise how people are more susceptible to suggestion than others, to how the subconscious mind can protect and sometimes even punish us depending on the emotional challenges faced.

As a therapist it’s my role to listen to your experiences, understand what’s at the root of your feelings and work together to find a way forward.
More often than not, the struggles we encounter as adults are grounded to some extent in our experiences growing-up. This doesn’t mean therapy is about digging into every corner of your childhood, but our sessions will seek to understand where experiences earlier in your life may be unintentionally getting in the way of you confidently moving forward. We will find ways for you to heal and soothe previous challenges and traumas, feel a sense of calm and self-assurance and develop positive coping strategies should life present challenges in the future.
